For enhanced polar bear viewing on the tundra of the Churchill Wildlife Management Area, in 2019 we introduced our new, custom-built, state of the art Arctic Crawler™ tundra vehicles. Our tundra vehicles contain all the modern amenities including USB ports. On your tour, you will head to the Polar Bear gathering spot on the Hudson Bay where bears wait for the winter icepack to freeze. Curious and far from shy, these bears may come alongside the vehicle to sneak a peek at their visitors.

During your stay at the Lodge, the Churchill Heritage Tour takes you to Churchill and the surrounding area. You will explore the various historic sites including Cape Merry, an outside tour of the Polar Bear Jail, the famous plane crash site of "Miss Piggy", and many other historic spots that make Churchill the town it is today.

You will have an evening (or afternoon, weather depending) Dog Mushing experience which includes 1 mile dog mushing ride. The ride will be on sleds if there is snow, and on wheels if there is none. Since the dogs love to run, either ride will be exhilarating! You will learn how the dogs are trained, plus hear many entertaining stories. In Churchill, the Northern Lights can make an appearance about 300 nights of the year, so if weather permits, there will also be an opportunity to see them.

This was an unbelievable trip. Deacon and Eric were very knowledgeable - the staff at the Lodge was accommodating and fantastic. We saw lots of bear activity including mums with cubs, and a couple of highly interactive and engaging bears. Total count was high - perhaps 30 over two days? I travelled with my 82 year old mother and staff were very solicitous.

Did I mention the food? Really good - including local specialties such as Elk (amazing!). Overall highly recommended and I am looking at coming back for Belugas and Bears in the summer! The Dog Sledding was excellent as well.
