Prime Minister Harper Extends His Stay
August 30, 2010
Prime Minister Stephen Harper paid a visit to the Lazy Bear Lodge on August 24 as part of his annual summer tour of the north. It was an honor to host the Prime Minister, even if the stop was to be brief, but when the winds kicked up and the Churchill airport was shut down, the quick stop turned into an two-night stay for Harper and his traveling party.
It was quite a thrill to have Prime Minister Harper attending to the day-to-day business of running the country from our lodge. He even held a press conference in our main dining room. Mr. Harper also took advantage of his time in Churchill to visit the Cape Merry Historic Site and the Eskimo Museum.
I attached links to some articles and about Harper’s Lazy Bear Lodge adventure. Yup, those are the Lazy Bear Lodge’s hand-crafted logs in the background.
